Speculative Future Scenario:
What if in 2050 the citrus greening disease made all oranges officially go extinct?

Artifacts from the memORO history archive

Editorial Design
'memORO' imagines a future where climate change accelerates citrus greening disease – a real agricultural threat already affecting monocultures in 2025 – which could drive oranges to extinction by 2050. In this scenario, ORO, a company known for bioengineered oranges, establishes 'memORO', a museum dedicated to preserving the memory of the lost fruit.
The memorial exhibition explores humanity’s effort to remember and re-experience the orange. Exhibited artifacts reflect past interactions with citrus – from peeling rituals to crypto-based tree adoptions and attempts to engineer the ‘perfect’ orange. Some are sensory, others symbolic – together, they reconstruct fragments of the forgotten fruit and invite reflection on memory, preservation, and loss.
