Speculative Future Scenario:
What if seniors were re-wired for their second spring as society's essential pollinators in a bee-less future?
In Lillehammer of 2050, Second Spring addresses two critical challenges: aging populations and bee extinction. This speculative retirement facility transforms elderly residents into human pollinators while providing therapeutic care.
Residents receive supervised doses of psilocybin-infused tea to treat depression and enhance sensory connection to nature. Each resident wears a specialized nosepiece to collect and distributing pollen as they move through integrated garden spaces.
The facility's architecture directly connects residential areas to cultivation zones, allowing seamless movement between living spaces and pollination work. This model transforms elderly care from passive dependency into active ecological contribution, giving residents purpose as essential workers in a bee-less future while addressing their mental health needs.
